1. What is Energy Saving Trust?
The Energy Saving Trust (EST) provides independent sustainability recommendations to businesses and individuals. They are accepted by the Government as the authority on many environmental issues.
2. What is SAP Appendix Q?
SAP is the Government Standard Assessment Procedure for the energy rating of dwellings.
SAP Appendix Q enables the performance of new technologies such as MVHR to be used in SAP calculations. The EST set the standards of performance.
3. Will my duct system include all necessary components?
The duct system specified by our on-line specification planner will enable correct installation and efficient operation of your chosen appliance in the property described.
4. What will my duct system include?
- Correctly specified high quality duct, fittings and accessories, matched with your appliance to ensure an efficient distribution network within the loft space or ceiling void of the house described
- Adjustable Ø125mm air valves to enable effective air flow around the dwelling
- External ventilation terminals and duct adapters as well as the Ø125mm duct, fittings and accessories to enable correct exhaust and supply air flow and maximum appliance efficiency
- High efficiency, thermal insulation and joint tape to ensure heat energy is retained when duct is installed in unheated spaces and the risk of condensation developing is minimised
- Duct sealant, to ensure heat is not lost and air flow is not diminished due to leakage. Ensuring system integrity will enable optimum air flow and appliance efficiency
- Optional 0.5m Microban® protected Silencers to significantly reduce transmitted appliance noise and room-to-room cross-talk
5. How do I install my ventilation system?

Duct System:
To enable you to correctly install your duct system so that it ensures efficient operation of your complete system, we provide fitting instructions that can be downloaded here.
6. Does ventilation need to be commissioned by a qualified installer?
Domestic ventilation became notifiable work on the 1st of October 2010 as part of the 2010 revision to Approved Document F of the Building Regulations.
This means that ventilation provision in new homes must be commissioned by a suitably qualified installer.
7. How can I become qualified to commission ventilation provision?
