Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)

Select MVHR

ENERGY SAVING TRUST ADVICE:
Best Practice: New Build

Recommended:

Major refurbishment

Incorporates supply and extract ventilation in one system. Warm air is extracted from wet rooms via ducting through a heat exchanger before being exhausted to the outside. Fresh incoming air is preheated via the exchanger and ducted into habitable rooms.

Advantages:

  • Controlled, preheated fresh air is provided throughout the house
  • Polypipe MVHR appliances are SAP Appendix Q listed and Energy Saving Trust compliant
  • Increases energy efficiency of the property by reducing heating demand
  • Filters incoming air from outside
  • Discreet installation

Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV)

Select MEV

ENERGY SAVING TRUST ADVICE:
Best Practice: New Build

Recommended:

Major and minor

refurbishment

Continuous low rate extraction from wet rooms using a central appliance. Incorporates a boost facility to extract pollutants and supply fresh outdoor air at a higher rate.

Replacement air is drawn into the property using background ventilators.

Advantages:

  • Easy to install
  • Provides continuous 'low-level' background ventilation
  • Simple operation
  • Discreet installation

Exhaust Air Heat Pumps (EAHP)

Select EAHP

ENERGY SAVING TRUST ADVICE:
Best Practice:  New Build

Recommended:

Major and minor

refurbishment

As with MEV appliances, exhaust air heat pumps continuously extract air from wet rooms. Heat energy is extracted from the exhausted air to provide space and hot water heating*.

* Check with the manufacturer that the appliance has the capacity to heat the property prior to installation.

Advantages:

  • Provides a combined ventilation and heating solution
  • High coefficient of performance (COP) compared to other heat pump technologies
